Independent Study

An unidentified flying object, or unidentified anomalous phenomenon, is any perceived aerial phenomenon that cannot be immediately identified or explained.

Upon investigation, most UFOs are identified as known objects or atmospheric phenomena, while a small number remain unexplained. Wikipedia

A Nasa probe into hundreds of UFO sightings found there was no evidence aliens were behind the unexplained phenomena, but the space agency also could not rule out that possibility. If the truth is out there, this long-awaited report offers no conclusive evidence. But it did outline how Nasa will investigate what it calls UAPs (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) with improved technology and artificial intelligence. Nasa administrator Bill Nelson said the US space agency will not only take the lead in researching possible UAP incidents, but will share data with more transparency. The report is 36 pages of quite technical and scientific observations, so here are some of the key takeaways. There's no proof aliens exist, but they might The very last page of the report said "there is no reason to conclude" that extra-terrestrial sources are behind the hundreds of UAP sightings Nasa has investigated. "However, if we acknowledge that as one possibility, then those objects must have travelled through our solar system to get here," the report said. Although the report did not conclude extra-terrestrial life exists, Nasa didn't deny the possibility of "potential unknown alien technology operating in Earth's atmosphere". Limited amount of UAP data Nicola Fox, the associate administrator for Nasa's Science Mission Directorate, said: "UAP are one of our planet's greatest mysteries" and that is mainly because of the lack of high quality data. Despite numerous reported UAP sightings, Ms Fox said there typically isn't enough data that "can be used to make definitive scientific conclusions about the nature and origin of UAP". Ms Fox announced that Nasa has appointed a new director of UAP research to "establish a robust database for the evaluation of future data". The director will use AI and machine learning in the data gathering and analysis process.  Media caption, Watch BBC ask Nasa: What about reports of 'aliens' in Mexico? Nasa weighs in on viral 'alien' photos from Mexico BBC reporter Sam Cabral asked the Nasa panel about a series of photographs of purported extra-terrestrials that were presented to Mexican authorities earlier this week. A self-proclaimed UFO expert, Jaime Maussan, brought to a congressional hearing what he presented as two ancient "non-human" alien corpses. He claimed the bodies had been found in Cusco, Peru, in 2017 and that radiocarbon testing dated the objects to be up to 1,800 years old. The authenticity of the specimens has been greeted by heavy scepticism in scientific circles, and Mr Maussan himself has previously made claims of extra-terrestrial life that were debunked. Nasa scientist Dr David Spergel told the BBC: "Make samples available to the world scientific community and we'll see what's there." Identity of new UFO boss remains a mystery because of threats There will be a new Nasa director of UAP research - but their identity remains a mystery. Details of the role and how much they will be paid were left curiously vague during Thursday's briefing, considering Nasa has pledged to be more transparent with its UAP research. One reason for this could be to protect the new director from any potential public harassment. Dr Daniel Evans, Nasa's Assistant Deputy Associate Administrator for Research, said members of the UAP research panel had received "actual threats". He said Nasa takes the security and safety of the team "extremely seriously" and that the threats had played a role in the decision not to publish the name of the UAP research director. Nasa recommends using AI tools Artificial intelligence and machine learning are "essential tools" for identifying UAPs, the report said. The public is also considered a "critical aspect of understanding UAP". Nasa, which has said one of its biggest challenges of better understanding and identifying UAPs is a lack of data, aims to plug that gap through crowdsourcing techniques. This includes "open-source smartphone-based apps" and other smartphone metadata from "multiple citizen observers worldwide". There is currently no standardised system for aggregating and organising civilian UAP reports, the report said, "resulting in sparse and incomplete data".

Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) means (A) airborne objects that are not immediately identifiable; (B) transmedium objects or devices; (C) and submerged objects or devices that are not immediately identifiable and that display behavior or performance characteristics suggesting that the objects or devices may be related to the objects or devices described in subparagraph (A) or (B). (Per the NDAA FY23 Section 1673(d)(8))

The DoD considers Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) as sources of anomalous detections in one or more domain (i.e., airborne, seaborne, spaceborne, and/or transmedium) that are not yet attributable to known actors and that demonstrate behaviors that are not readily understood by sensors or observers.

“Anomalous detections” include but are not limited to phenomena that demonstrate apparent capabilities or material that exceed known performance envelopes. A UAP may consist of one or more unidentified anomalous objects and may persist over an extended period of time.

NASA Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Independent Study On June 9, 2022, NASA announced that the agency is commissioning a study team to examine unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs) – that is, observations of events in the sky that cannot be identified as aircraft or known natural phenomena – from a scientific perspective. The study will focus on identifying available data, how best to collect future data, and how NASA can use that data to move the scientific understanding of UAPs forward. This webpage is designed as a resource to provide updates on the UAP Independent Study.

The truth about aliens could be exposed ‘with one phone call’

King Charles can expose the truth about UFOs 'with one phone call'

King Charles has a ‘hotline’ to those who can reveal the truth about aliens – and should use it – the UK’s leading UFO expert says. Nick Pope, who previously ran the UK government’s UFO project, has said the King should use his power to compel the US to divulge everything it knows about unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP). His statements come three months after the US Congress held a hearing into the issue, after whistleblower David Charles Grusch alleged the government is hiding evidence of ‘intact and partially intact’ alien vehicles. ‘The King has a direct access ‘hotline’ to the top people when he needs it,’ said Mr Pope, now a broadcaster and journalist.

‘Here is someone who can lift up the phone and say “What’s going on in the US, I’ve followed the story with interest about the Nasa reports, reports from the Office of National Intelligence, the congressional hearing, the multiple UFO provisions in the defence bill, and I want a full, classified briefing”.’

Mr Pope said support from the King could kick start similar proceedings in the UK as have been seen in US Congress – during which Mr Grusch also alleged that people have been ‘harmed or injured’ in an effort to cover up the alien technology held by the government.

Two other witnesses, former Navy pilot Lt Ryan Graves and former Navy commander David Fravor both shared their experiences with UAP, including a ‘mysterious dark cube floating in the sky’. Lt Graves added that UAP are an ‘open secret’ among fighter pilots. If the King did not want to be seen publicly pressing for more details on a potential alien presence, Mr Pope suggested he persuades MPs or peers to pick up the baton in parliament – despite the potential stigma.  ‘Someone has to go first and yes, it’s a big, brave step,’ said Mr Pope, speaking in an upcoming documentary, The King Of UFOs, out in November.

‘You don’t want to be the politician associated with flying saucers if that’s the way it’s spun, but politicians can be very astute – at times – and it’s very easy, particularly if you have overt or covert royal support, to frame your interest as a commitment to open government, or concerns over defence and flight safety.

‘That’s how politicians in the US handle it, and it’s a perfectly legitimate interest to have – in fact, it’s bizarre if you weren’t concerned about flight safety, especially when we have pilots and radar operators speaking about it.’

The King is likely already well-versed on all things UAP given his father, the Duke of Edinburgh, was fascinated by UFOs, compiling a library of books on the subject and regularly asking to be briefed on the latest news. He also subscribed to the journal Flying Saucer Review.

A recent documentary by the same producers as The King Of UFOs also alleged the King flew a craft modelled on a crashed UFO in the 1970s.

The ‘UFO-type vehicle’ was saucer-shaped with three pilots in three individual glass domes – designed to protect them from the electromagnetic force given off by the ‘mothership’ controlling the craft.
